Wholesale Trader

Your role is to build and maintain relations with intermediates and trade directly over the phone with various counterparties. What you’ll do

As a Wholesale Trader you will be the key link between our screen traders and external trading relations. You will be responsible for the over-the-phone block trading. The team consists of experienced and involved market experts who specialize in providing fast and efficient markets in competitive volumes to professional counterparties worldwide.

Finding and maintaining relationships with all kinds of trading counterparties are key to this job. You will have to travel through Europe frequently in order to meet with counterparties and put Optiver on everyone's radar as an important trading partner.

Working as a wholesale trader combines the fun and intensity of trading with the challenges of communication and relationship management. To become a wholesale trader you will need the personality, drive and ambition to maintain key international relationships, manage large portfolios, make fast decisions and spot opportunities.

What you’ll need

• Academic Degree
• 0-2 years working experience, preferably in financial markets;
• Excellent social and communication skills;
• Strong numerical skills;
• An entrepreneurial spirit and a talent for growing business in new directions;
• An eye for accuracy, solve problems and make decisions under pressure;
• Willingness to travel frequently within Europe;
• Fluency in English (fluency in French, Italian, German or Spanish is a preference);
• Having an existing network is a preference.

N.B. Once you’ve applied for the Wholesale Trader position, you will be required to take one numerical test to measure your mathematical skills.
